As well as becoming, in 1973, unwittingly, site eight in 20 Sites, Tony's won that year's Evening Standard best News Agent award. The strange events at Magic Cleaners have, however, until recently, somewhat upstaged Tony's. For 10 years in an otherwise eventless window, there has been a waxing, waning, shuffling and shifting play of signs advertising shoe repairs. Sometimes there is a huge notice across both windows at the frontage, and at others an almost furtive sign in one window, which, mysteriously migrates to the other and then back again.

In 1984 the shop is suddenly refurbished and empty, a nurse is passing by, prophetic of its new role as the Office of the British Nursing Association from 1986. In 1990 the building in the background is given a new roof, which seems to last well until in 2004 it is demolished with the rest of the building to make way for a new white construction.

In 2008 the estate agents Eaton Green move in and by 2016 the draper shop has been replaced by a vintage clothing store. Tony's remains untouched.
