Words and Music

Words and Music has a January 1975 release date although the cover clearly states “LXXIV”. The pressing was limited to 500 copies. Side A comprises recordings of Phillips’ compositions (including an extract from IRMA) performed by Jill Phillips, John Tibury, Laurie Baker, Morray Walsh and the composer. On the B-side TP reads extracts from A Humument, samples of which are also incorporated into the sleeve art. The directness of the title complements the Phillips monographs, Works Texts to 74 and Works and Texts (1992). 

In 2019 the album was reissued by Recital Records in a standard edition of 215 unnumbered copies with a 12-page booklet with scores and program notes.
